Who we are
Trucker Tycoon is made by Antoshak Media & Development LLC and published on the App Store by Joe Antoshak. In this policy, “we” means both. For any privacy question or request, email support@antoshak.io.
In brief
- The game has no accounts, no ads and no tracking across apps or websites.
- Your careers and saves stay on your phone, unless you send one to us in a report.
- Play data is sent only if you say yes. You can turn it off at any time.
- Each time the game starts or you come back to it, it checks for updates. That check runs whatever you answered.
- We don’t sell your data. We share it only with the service providers named below.
Play data, if you say yes
The first time you play, the game asks whether to share anonymous play data, with a YES and a NO. Until you answer, the game keeps events in memory only. If you say no, or leave the question unanswered, they are thrown away and nothing is sent.
If you say yes, the game sends events to PostHog as you play. They go in batches, about every 10 seconds and whenever you switch away from the game. The events are:
- when the game opens or you come back to it
- when a career starts (the background you picked and the save slot) and when it ends (sold, retired or deleted)
- each week played: its number, the Energy left, the loads refused for lack of Energy, and the career’s stage
- milestones, such as your first truck
- each screen you open, the screen you came from, and how long you spent on that one (counted up to 30 minutes)
- each button or control you use, the screen it is on and what happened, recorded by the game’s own code for that control and never its words
- errors: a short code for the kind of error and the screen it happened on, never the error message or stack trace
- a save that failed
Each event also carries:
- the date and time it happened
- a random ID made on your phone when you say yes
- a session ID that changes each time the game starts, after 30 minutes without play, and after 24 hours
- the app’s name, bundle ID, version and build number
- your phone’s maker, model, system and system version, its screen size, and whether it is a simulator
- your phone’s language and region setting and its time zone
- the name and version of PostHog’s code in the game
Events never carry your name, the names you give your driver or company, anything else you type, or your location. The time zone and the language and region setting are the closest they come to where you are.
PostHog receives your IP address with every request, as any internet service does. We have turned off PostHog’s IP geolocation, and PostHog is set not to store your IP address with play data.
While sharing is on, PostHog’s code in the game also downloads its own settings from PostHog once each time the game starts. That request carries no ID and no play data.
Update checks, every time
The game gets its updates from Expo (650 Industries, Inc.). The game asks Expo whether a newer version is ready each time it starts, each time you come back to it, and each time you tap UPDATE NOW. If one is ready, the game downloads it. This happens whatever you answered about play data.
Each check sends:
- a random install ID the game makes the first time it runs, which stays the same until you delete the app
- your phone’s platform (iOS)
- the game’s runtime version, its update channel, the ID of the update you are running, the ID of the version built into the app, and the IDs of any updates that recently failed to load
- your IP address, and the app and system details your phone adds to every web request
If the game crashes while starting up, or in the first 10 seconds after it appears, the next check also sends Expo a description of the crash, up to 1,024 characters. It includes the error message and the time of the crash.
Reports you choose to send
SEND REPORT is in the game’s Settings, under THE APP, and on the screens the game shows after an error. It makes a file containing:
- the error, if there was one, with its message and stack trace
- the game’s version and update details, and your phone’s system version
- your most recent moves
- a full copy of that career’s save, including the name you typed when you started it (the game asks for “Your name”), any company name you typed, your home market, and when you started and last played the career
The game never sends this file itself. It opens your phone’s share sheet, and you choose whether to send it, how and to whom. If you email it to us, we receive the file, your email address and whatever you write. The file contains neither the play data ID nor the install ID, and we don’t use a report to look for your play data or your update checks.
How we use it
- Play data: to see where careers stall, to balance the game, and to find and fix bugs.
- Update checks: to deliver updates and fixes to your phone.
- Reports: to find and fix the problem, and to answer you.
- Crash descriptions: Expo’s update code sends them to Expo with the next update check. Expo doesn’t publish what it does with them. If we see one, we use it only to find and fix the problem.
We don’t use any of it for advertising or marketing. We don’t build a profile of you, and we don’t combine this data with data from anywhere else.
Who else receives it
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with these service providers, which handle it for us:
- PostHog, Inc. stores and counts play data on servers in the United States. Under its data processing agreement with us, PostHog acts as our service provider. It may not sell or share the data. When we stop using PostHog and ask it to, it must return or delete the data, unless the law requires it to keep it.
- Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) delivers the game’s updates. Expo says it processes the data in update checks on our behalf, as our processor. Expo also counts how many installs download an update in each billing period, for its billing.
- Our email provider stores the reports and emails you send to support@antoshak.io in our mailbox.
PostHog’s and Expo’s terms let them use data in aggregated or de-identified form to improve their own products. We have reviewed the terms of all three providers. We confirm that each gives your data the same or equal protection that this policy and Apple’s App Store rules require.
Apple may give us aggregated crash and usage statistics, but only if you have agreed in your iPhone’s settings to share them with app developers.
How long it is kept, and how it is deleted
- On your phone: your careers and saves stay until you delete them in the game or delete the app. Deleting the app also deletes your play data answer and the install ID. Restoring your phone from a backup can bring them back.
- Play data: on our current plan, PostHog keeps events for at least one year. After that PostHog may delete them, and it does not commit to a date. We can’t set a shorter period. When we stop using PostHog, we will delete all play data.
- IP addresses: PostHog is set not to store them with play data. Expo does not publish how long it keeps update checks or IP addresses. Its privacy policy says it keeps data as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes that policy lists.
- Reports: we keep a report, and the emails that came with it, until the problem is fixed or your question is answered. We delete both from our mailbox within 90 days after that.
Your choices
- To stop play data: in the game’s Settings, under PRIVACY, turn off “Share anonymous play data.” The same switch is on the screen where you start a new career. Turning it off stops sending at once and deletes any events waiting on your phone. The game also stops using the random ID, and if you turn sharing back on, events carry a new one. PostHog’s code keeps a copy of the first ID it made in its own storage on your phone, and the game doesn’t send that copy.
- Play data already sent: it carries no name, no account and no contact details. PostHog’s tools delete one player’s events only through a person profile, which the game never creates, and the game never shows you its ID. So we have no way to pick out your play data and delete it. It stays with PostHog for the period above.
- Update checks: the game can’t turn them off. Deleting the app stops them and deletes the install ID. The game never shows the install ID, and we can’t single out one phone’s update checks for deletion.
- Reports: email support@antoshak.io from the address you sent the report from and ask us to delete it. We will delete the report and your emails within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
Children
The game is rated 13+ and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has sent us a report, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.

Sending a report
If the game is stuck or something looks wrong, tap SEND REPORT in the game’s Settings, under THE APP. If the game shows an error screen, the button is there too. It makes a file with your career’s save, your recent moves and any error, then opens your phone’s share sheet. Choose Mail, send it to support@antoshak.io, and tell us what happened. The file includes the name and company name you typed. The Privacy section above lists everything in the file and says how long we keep it.
